I looking into the possibility of getting a s1 shotgun for general vermin control.

I know this has been discussed before, but looking for some more up to date info.

I have my sgc and fac

What are the latest thoughts on getting one and possibilities?

I'm in the Devon and cornwall area

When I applied for my section 1, I was advised by my FEO to state 'Crop Protection'. I did this and had no problem getting it. Initially, I was restricted to birds only, which I didn't mind, but it's now been 'opened' but it's now AOLQ. I use an Escort Magnum 8 shot which is excellent.

When you apply, do you have to specify say pump or auto, or how many shot it will hold?

I made all manner of excuses why I ‘needed’ a S1 shotgun when I first applied many years ago, and was turned down. It was my FEO and licensing authority which told me how to apply, and that my ‘good reason’ should be ‘ for use within the terms and conditions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1980 whenever’ ( can’t recall the exact year of the act ) and lo and behold it was granted. 🙂
