Mares Tail

Has anyone out there had the problem with mares tail, tried Roundup and other weed killers

but to no avail.I think it's coming under my fence from a small substation next door which

is only sprayed once a year. The problem seems to be getting worse,it;s shooting up under shrubs

and plants and even coming up in the greenhouse,it's driving me balmy.

Any suggestions would help, and i am sure that PW readers and contributors being an intelligent group

of people will come up with a concrete?!! solution.

I have it my new garden. Where i can get at it i dig it out as deep as i can get. Where i can't dig, i dont let it see daylight by pulling the stalks off at ground level.

Hopefully this will eventually weaken and kill it, but I'm  expecting that to take several years. This stuff survived the dinosaurs... weedkiller makes it laugh.

I will send Blaster Bates over just as soon as he has finished on my patch. 🤣

A friend has it growing (AGAIN) in his flagged driveway and I have sprayed it with Rosate 360 (kills most  things) every year for him several years and it always comes back. It must be rife under the flags.

Good luck!

The problem is it's under shrubs and coming through gravel and the membrane,is this just a North Norfolk

weed?

We get bits of it along the edge of the drive and some in the garden, it gets pulled or mowed but thankfully doesn't seem to spread.

My dads patio had it and it took a while to get shut of it.

Tread on it then use a strong mix of Roundup.

Do the same 2 weeks later. You have to damage the waxy outside layer to enable the R.U to penetrate.

The following season only a bit came up and the same treatment nobbled it.

Tried to get rid years ago     neat round up on a paint brush  did not work

was told to put salt on in   Petrol on a brush kills most things  Careful

I was also told to put salt on a pigeons tail to catch it

Hope something works

Surely if you could get near enough to put salt on a pigeon's tail you'd already have caught it? 😯

I just keep useing rosate 360 whenever I see it pokeing out of the gravel .

But I accidentally spilt some compost accelerator over about 40 square yards last year . Seems to quite clear so far !

Ammonium sulfamate .

no regrowth this year - yet .

it's just started sprouting in other areas , now sprayed with tfr .
