Glow plug light

When you say glow plug light? SO its a diesel? Assume you have a smart phone? You can get an OBD2 reader for about £15 and run your own diagnostic. AS a garage and definetly a main stealer will charge £50 to run a diagnostic it pays for itself first time. OBD2 reader plugs in, usually under the dash, but you'll find out off interweb. than bluetooth the reader to your phone via an app called Torque. This will give you a code to look up. YOu can delete the fault code from the cars ECU (brain) and it might not come back. If it does you can get it sorted.

Hope i'm not being patronising, I don't know how tech savvy you are. Apologies If you already know all this. I use the BAFX reader by the way. Also maybe go on a Seat forum?

Good luck

Thank you.

Hopefully it's around at my mates tomorrow afternoon, I can drop it off and he says he can plug it into to his computer. It helps when he worked for a vw and audi specialist 😁

That's a good friend to have, he should know his way around fault code.

He services my car and half the lads at works. He is beyond OCD when it comes to looking after every tiny detail. When I get it mot they even know he has done the work because of the way he grease every bolt and nut and checks things over.

He sounds like James May LOL. That being a good thing in my book.

My Audi A3 had a flashing glow plug light recently. Also went into limp-home mode. It was the EGR valve according to the code reader.

The fault code was erased and the car had been ok for about 3 months. They aren't cheap and are a pain to get to.

We had this on our jag.
it was the turbo clogged and when at high revs it would cut out.
engine off and on and it was ok.

Got told to run some d max 6400 through before anything else.  Seemed to work.

we’re also told it could be a sign of a leaking injector

First thing my mate said it could be, hopefully he can diagnostics it before he starts his shift this evening.

drive it like you stole it    use the best fuel you can buy    or give it to teenager  once a week  saves the dealers opening your wallet  while they give it to an apprentice to drive it like the stole it  engine designed to be raced    not leisure driving

No problems at all. I did not have a remap for power increase, but some whiz kid had to reprogramme the ‘brain’ to stop the fault codes showing again. The engine seems much improved and pulls harder from much lower revs. Coming home from the local town there is a 1 1/2 mile uphill grade with a 40 mph limit. Previously the truck would only just do the grade in 6th gear if you could maintain the full 40. If you got behind a car doing 37/8 you had to drop to 5th. Now she comes up there strongly down to about 32 in 6th, and generally seems to runs smoother than before.
