Wire haired pointer

Always like the look of them and a friend had one crossed with a greyhound to hunt foxes on the hill tops.

Are they a breed still seen on the shooting grounds or just grouse moors?

I see lots of GWPs, probably the toughest and hardest running of the HPRs. Most the guys I know run or pick up on the moor until the pheasant season starts. Almost all I have seen have been great working dogs. Some of the dogs (males) have been a bit more bolshie, possibly not ideal as a first HPR unless you are a relatively experienced gundog trainer overall.

I haven't the knowledge to train one or the use for one. My lurcher bitch is 7 next month and will be the last dog I own. Yet they are a nice dog of what I've seen on youtube etc.

What type of ground do you run them on?
I think they’re amazing breed ... but I would have thought they’d do best hunting wide open spaces?
