It will work in the flat areas of standing crops if the arms of your rotary are upto it. I sometimes usee a flapper but a better plan is to have adequate sticks to use shot birds as deeks. A large wide pattern will draw them from a very long way, if they want to be there.

I tried it this week, crows flared off about 60 - 70 yards and I'm not confident of a hit or kill at that range so brought it in and tried a Jackdaw on a bouncer, absolutely nothing came near. Fetched it in, just 3 full bodied decoys out and a few came for a look see for very last time. Had quite a few circling very high over the rotary and tried to call them in with the Acme but no joy. They seem to learn very quickly.
