A comment made on morning tv by the presenter of Pakistani decent and ex comic don't know his name but he said that this little country was built by immigrants says it all really on the mindset of these people .

Sums up the knowledge of our history,  early infrastructure mainly conceived by invaders - who then had the decency to fohome. Victorian era onwards it was built mostly by legal immigrants who we offered a usually better life to in exchange for their cheap labour. We have always done our bit in this country for immigrants and we will continue to do so. Illegals have no place here, they are clearly inherently dishonest otherwise they would come here legally, why should we want them?  Obviously the French are sensible enough to have come to the same conclusion.

I really don't blame the migrants, even though most are "economic migrants" and definitely not refugees as otherwise they would stop in the first safe country, which is definitely not the UK. However, can any of us blame the refugees themselves for trying to better their lot?

I blame the government, the solution is dead simple, migrants come over, we drop them straight back, they'd very soon get the message, that policy would be beneficial in two ways, on one hand it protects UK citizens from possible terrorist attack and the tax payer from the enormous financial burden, secondly, it would eventually protect the migrants themselves from unscrupulous traffickers and perilous journeys as they stop trying.

The problem is we can't drop them straight back, the French won't take them because they say (with some justification) there is no evidence they came from France. The French are clever, at no time do they allow the migrants to have any paperwork. They are never documented in any way at all so they are deniable

Very simple but very clever

Even if we need to have floating observation points, radar and boats with helicopter spotters ect. It is simple, we need to spend a bit of money on it, anyone coming from french waters gets sent back to France, in the long run, as soon as the illegal gangs realise they can't get people in via that route, it'll stop.

Why can’t we drop them straight back to Afghanistan, Somalia or wherever? That would really discourage them.

I agree but most of them haven't got passports so it becomes very problematic.. When Israel started deporting people without passports to a third country that was prepared to take them for a fee, (somewhere like Uganda) it suddenly meant that all the migrants they caught had their passports with them.

Anyway they have had to stop that now. Its a big problem.

I haven’t read every post, but I believe it’s retsdon who keeps trying Reg to defend the french and ask what they should be doing?

firstly, do we agree that illegal immigrants are breaking the law? (Kind of implicit in the name)

so secondly, lets ask what the french would do to any other law breaker. Let’s take a hypothetical situation. A rapist leaves France via a boat from the beach and heads for England. Would the french just escort him until he reaches British waters, picked up by UK border patrol and then wait for extradition/repatriation? How about a drug boat, smuggling drugs across the channel? Would they escort them to a waiting British boat???

OF COURSE NOT. And so you can see, that the french are actually implicit in the activity of illegal immigration. I bet good money, if a British fishing vessel went swanning about in french waters, illegally taking catches and then just headed for home, they would find a way to stop it.

now, how would a bunch of genuine immigrants afford a nice rib with outboard? And who sold it to them? Or was it stolen? They should and could easily stop the boats without a single drowning and take all on board back to France. Get to the bottom of where the boat came from and process all the criminals and give them the relevant jail time before sending them home. But no, it’s easier to send them to soft touch, bunch of mugs Britain. Who keep taking them by the literal boatload! What a joke! They get put up in hotels and given spending money. I’ve served my country in the RAF, RNLI, and volunteered in many places to help disabled and kids etc. Yet I couldn’t claim job seekers after the RAF, and wasn’t given anything for furlough. It’s an absolute mick take....

that’s the thanks you get for serving your country NOTHING! not being able to stop a few dinghies shows just what a weak spineless government we have might as well scrap the borders when all you need is a dinghy

What we, and every body else has to realise is that this problem is not going to go away. The population of many very poor countries is exploding.

Setting aside the middle east and its wars for a moment lets just look at Africa

One Country that I know a bit about is Nigeria. In 50 years its population has quadrupled from about 50 million in 1970 to over 200 million today. Whats more its still increasing.

Other countries in that area are much the same. Sierra Leone has quadroupled in the same time frame, Senegal has trebled

All these charities running vaccination programmes and digging wells in poor areas are only shifting the problem from infant mortality to chronic overcrowding on land that can't support more and more people. Antibiotics and malaria nets don't put food in people's mouthes.

The tide is relentless and unstoppable, its a world problem

Hello, sky news spoke to some illegal immigrants on their boat who paid traffickers around 1000 euros each 🤔

I wish I knew the answer Vince, we can all see this happening although some younger generation folk I speak to cannot see the problem, they believe that technology will conquer all.

It is not just Africa though. Even my family in the UK has expanded exponentially since the sixties with far more now living than have died. When David Attenborough, bless him, tried to start a message on the BBC about exploding human population even he was gagged and I have never known one British politician or political party to take up the challenge of persuading folk to slow down breeding. The Chinese tried restricting the number of kids per couple for city dwelling folk but even with their regime they have not been very successful as their population has doubled since 1960.

Maybe Nigel could take up the challenge at least he seems to have ways of by passing the establishment and getting messages out there.
