samboy
Hi gang. I've had my Parker Hale mod on my CZ for 15 yrs and never cleaned it. I should imagine its caked with crud inside but the rifle shoots spot on. Been watching on you tube a chap saying they should be cleaned or they can become less effective. If i do decide to take it apart what what liquid cleaner should i use. Thanks all.
Dougy
You rifle shoots spot on, You've not cleaned it for 15 yrs, And now you seen a clip on Youtube you want to clean it. Why Polish you shoes or something if you feel the need to clean.
London Best
What Dougy said. Have another look at it in another fifty years.
markm
If I remember correct a Parker Hale mod come with a rod. You unscrew the end and insert the rod, turn it upside down and the baffles fall out. Failing that you could use a wire coat hanger. Submerge then in a little petrol and leave them to soak. Dry them off, scrape off any crud and rinse with WD40, dry them and put back together. Put in a warm place for 24 hours to allow evaporation and then you should be good to go. Grease any threads on the mod and on the rifle. Got this from the back of my mind from 20 years ago. Alternatively take it to a gun shop and swap it for a SAK. Lloyd90
What if you clean it and afterwards it’s not shooting spot on?
scarecrow243
if you dont take the mod off the gun they can get stuck on due to carbon build up also the baffles will most likely be stuck and hard to remove as you have not cleaned it

scarecrow243
ok for the ones that think not cleaning your sound moderator does nothing it does carbon build up overtime builds up over the baffles and will start to lessen on how much sound it moderates plus it sticks all the baffles also starts to corrode

strimmer_13
Used to clean my sak every time, but thats because its easy and was new. The amount of **** in there was stunning after a few boxes.
Loki
Hi Moderators are probably better off with some 'crud' as helps sound attenuation.............more 'tinny' when cleaned until a 'layer' has built up. The balance for anyone is, if needed to be dismantled, could it be done or grief ensues? It goes without saying that the threads on the barrel need keeping clean and lubricated (lubricant of your choice) to ensure can be taken off the rifle when needed to!
