Knew it needed new blade,as burning wood. Kept stopping and starting. Sparks from motor. Finally no momentum.  Thought this will be pricey for new machine. Took cabon brushes ot of motor, hardly anything left. New 40 teeth blade, £20.00 and 2 brushes of ebay, £6.91. Happy days.

Once you see sparks or it becomes intermittent STOP as it is telling you it isn't happy. Some of the cheap brushes do not have a ",retention" braid in them. This stops the brush wearing down to the spring , if the spring touches two segments of the commutator ( shiny round striped coppery thing ) then it's curtains. A new and correctly toothed blade makes a lot of difference. I also put a very light spray of silicone spray on the blade if I am not applying a finish to the wood. Nearly all finishes hate silicone
