Disgraceful

How does it happen again? Because, frankly, you have people like Theresa May in charge of the Home Office and although she has long gone after her near ten year tenure there she brought and has left a toxic culture. Yet every year Cameron, May, now Johnson, preen themselves in front of the Cenotaph on which the words "Lest We Forget" are carved. And there they stand as High Commissioners (Ambassadors) from Australia, Barbados, India, Jamaica, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa and others lay their tributes to those from those former Dominions and colonies that fought and died for Britain in the two World Wars. Yet do you see the Ambassador of Rumania? No. Yet the nationals have that country have more rights in the UK than do those from the what is called now the Commonwealth and more rights indeed to bring their non-EU family members into the UK than actually British citizens have with theirs. "Lest We Forget"? You're having a laugh.

It really would not take more than an hour of someones time to sort this out.  We will see if Matisse spouts off about it on the BBC.

Just needs someone with the necessary to give the order, Sort this before sundown or else.  Nothing is imposssible as my boss once told me when I suggested a job he wanted doing was.  The only thing that is impossible is for you to become pregnant. Sort it OK.   Yes, Sirrrr!!!

That about sums it up, they should just put something in place saying once someone has served number of years maybe 5 maybe 10 then they are eligible for health care, living here etc.

There are many here who have never done a thing or lifted a finger yet get everything on a plate, and it's not just immigrants before anyone says.

I agree that anyone who serves should be allowed to stay, but commonwelth soldiers are told what they must do if they want to stay in the uk , unfortunatly most chose to just ignore the advice given and think they can just carry on, they then come unstuck when stuff like this happens.

Some of it is the cost and complexity of the system to remain, which a lot find to difficult to navigate and don't bother saving as they think they will get away with just staying as most of their mates do the same.

It's time the law was changed so that you would have a right to remain after serving x amount of years.

It should be like Starship Troopers - where service guarantees citizenship!!

This could also be applied to lots of things - 80% employment record guarantees xxxxxxx - even as low as 50% - perhaps education for children - access to child benefit - that would scupper a lot of scrotes who get something for nothing for all their life!!!

Yes ... if they’re not on board with the party we should send them to the execution camps ... just like Starship troopers... and the Government should be able to make up fake videos and adverts about anyone who speaks out against them ... just like on ...

Just teasing :P

Does anyone ever think, that sometimes a movie isn’t about what you think it’s about  🤔

And yet, by comparison with a man who has served 10 years in HM Forces, you can be an illegal immigrant arriving in a RIB escorted in by the British Authorities, having torn up your passport so you nor your country can be identified, have no money, fall ill and it's all paid for.

Absolutely disgusting!

As far as I am concerned as soon as anyone hits basic training they and their loved ones should be eligible for exactly what any British citizen is entitled to, wether it be health care or education for the dependant children and should remain eligible throughout service, and on completing the minimum Service set for the relevant section (army/ navy/ raf / marines ) they and their dependants should automatically be offered British citizenship free of charge and without jumping through hoops! Should they Be injured and discharged at any point during their service the same should apply, also if they pay the ultimate price and not return to their loved ones their family should be offered the same.

Any man or woman that is willing to put on the uniform and risk their life to serve should be treated with the respect they deserve. The way this union treats its ex service members wether British nationals or not disgusts me!

One of the first guys into the embassy in 1980 was a Fijian, 2 guys killed in 72 in Mirbat Fijian. It's a fair bet many more have paid the ultimate price, or been front line troops in action in every conflict since. Some of the toughest guys I've come across Fijian. They've had my back more than once, I've had theirs. Had some cracking nights out with these guys, they know how to party too and have a wicked sense of humour. They always moan about the cold and rain, but then so do we. Not much to separate us really. Immigrants.....no way, brothers yes.

Boris has a chance to gain some points after the Cummings fiasco...so why not do the decent thing and give these soldiers (and their families) British citizenship and all the benefits that it entails.  These people have served the UK...not their native country...and no doubt taken many, many risks everyday...so why not send a message to the Commonwealth countries that we, the UK, will take care of you and your family, if you serve our / YOUR country for x number of years.  What the Government doesn't seem to understand, is that members / ex members of the UK military are disciplined to do whatever tasks are put before them.....and do, in most cases, make excellent employees in the private sector.  BORIS....FOR XXXX SAKE, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE TEA!

Sadly there doesn't seem any political desire her to improve reality.

"If they are good enough to die for the country then they're good enough to live in the country."

The working class are being taken for granted these days. It's almost gone back to a pre war class system.

The generations living on benefits, well we will just keep paying them because it's easier. The rich and powerful, well they are our mates. The working people, well they will do as we say because they are honest and moral and consequently don’t play the system.

This story proves more than most how little justice there is left in this country. If i had heard about it sooner i would of happily donated.
