Start reaching out to anyone and everyone you know now, use your contact network as best you can. Ask people to give you a job. Best of luck. Thanks , even in contact with a chap that used to deal with our cutting fluid etc , engineering sector is on its knees but he’ll keep an ear out for me ,maybe an opening where a friend works but don’t fancy a 100 mile round trip every day 23 minutes ago, Old farrier said: Sad news maybe posting your cv/ area could help you secure a new job/ career if that’s allowed hope you get sorted soon 👍 Thanks will update cv soon

I don't mean that to sound patronising. I am optimistic that there will be a bounceback, but I don't think it will be especially quick or evenly spread and I don't think we are even close to bottoming out as yet. The more aggressive and proactive you are at getting yourself into a new role the better. As employers have to start taking up an increasing percentage of the furlough costs over the next 3 months expect to see more businesses taking steps now to mitigate that cost by making people redundant. The competition is going to get harder. Until you find new employment make your job getting a job.

Good luck.
sam triple
All is becoming clearer now , all of us being made redundant Barr a few were on a final salary pension scheme and that’s what appears to have sealed our fate ,each of us went thru a scoring process which was rigged , they couldn’t fault me on production or quality, time keeping or sickness , disaplinary or the machines I could run etc but instead focused on what I couldn’t run , I argued the point that at no time had I been asked run ,received training on machines as quoted in their H&s policy, but they were adamant that this was part of their scoring . At this point I blew up and told them this was shoddy at the best , fraudulent at worst , I fired right in to my “ manager “ and then into my so called union rep for letting them get away with this , I caught the girl from HR almost burst into laughter as I launched my verbal assault on both but to no avail . i could appeal , but they’ve moved the manager on to a different position so all we will get is “ we can’t comment on a previous managers decision “ a few have and we are waiting on their outcome before we think about possible legal action , my cv has been thrown out all over so hopefully I’ll get a response soon ,only downer is my age

Hopefully you'll get a good pay out and another job, from my experience take what ever is around, it stops you spending the redundancy money on Bill's. Much easier looking for a job while your being paid.

I have been responsible for making people redundant in the past and were asked by HR who I wanted to see go. They then rigged the evaluation so that the desired outcome was met. Your job is to now get as much out of them as you can. Find out what others are being offered and demand more for going quietly.
