Game cover seed

I'm not specifically after game cover but something like sunflower seed that I can have a bag in my pocket and chuck a few handfuls about when I'm out shooting and hopefully grow a little bit of wild bird feed. Ive got a few rough spots with decent cover but that could benefit from a little bit of something with feed value. Any ideas as to what would be best, sunflowers were an example but they do look nice. There won't be a prepared seed bed as such and I'm not after spending a lot of money.

I buy a few kilos of mixed wild bird seed, you’ll be surprised what’s in it. To check it’s viable I put some in a dish wrapped in damp tissue, keep it damp and within a few days you’ll know if the seed is good. Been doing it for years on small lots. If the patch is over grown I usually spray it off and broadcast into it.

Would millet be any good on your ground.........we use it for patching up, if there are any sparse areas.......its good around the edge of maize as well.

Good luck for the season.
