Moles

An old chap I knew years ago used to stand in his front garden poised over his mole hills.

Greeting people and chatting as they passed his gate.

First sign of soil movement and he would open fire.

I believe he used to say "T only way to shift moles is shut the beggers wii the .410"

No one batted an eyelid.

Seemed to work.

My daughters allotment is over run with them, and she can't get any mole traps at the moment.

As a massive long shot If she’s anywhere near me (Settle) I have plenty and would happy give her a couple.  Failing that she can mail order from The Flat Pack really high quality Yorkshire made and a great company to deal with.

A friend told me that one way to get rid of moles is to put pilchards (from a tin) down the holes.  Apparently, the moles can't stand the smell and disappear.  Worth a try?

Wont that encourage other pests? Something fishy about that idea.

Killed 3 in a week, had one that was digging round my traps and springing them but not getting caught. Just seen him this evening run over on the road.

How do you know? The same mole? Have they got serial numbers on them?

It might have been a different mole? Unless it was a "golden mole" of legend!

Or a visiting, family member mole, on his way back from Barnard Castle after testing his eyesig

But, clearly not very successfully.

Yes. As you never see moles burrowing in the sea bed in the North Sea. As others say it attract other nasties. Including wasps.
