Racing pigeons for dinner?

Recommended Posts

Not as controversial as it sounds! A racing pigeon-enthusiast friend has given me half a dozen birds that were culled. They have been plucked, gutted and frozen. They were healthy, well looked after birds and fed on grain. Should I consider eating them? What should I do with them? Cheers.

I know some one who would like them for possum or stoat traps, seems like a better plan than eating them.

I tried some many years ago, and they tasted terrible. I did think that being fed on grain etc, they would have been okay.

Thanks for that Steve. Decision made. They'll go to our Department of Conservation for pest trap bait.

I wondered what happened to old racing pigeons! It's not like you can just set them free to fly off into the blue yonder.
