Concur with JDog

Pansies produce a great deal of seed and last season this was spread about and managed to avoid sprays etc. It all germinates and there you go a field covered in wild pansies.

Used to be very common back in the 50s, the binder would go through and left in the stubble would be a mass of the little flowers.

Well you said that there were pigeons on it this evening so there is your answer.

I believe I put a post up some years ago describing a decoying session over the same thing.
