TIGHTCHOKE
Just watching the BBC Breakfast News and a story is growing with various music stars calling on the Government to inject cash in to the venues that are suffering from the lockdown. https://www.ft.com/content/6cb111fc-ff8b-44c5-b0da-02e899c88684 I do hope some of them use their own £ millions to lead the call. But I will not be holding my breath waiting. Edited July 2, 2020 by TIGHTCHOKE
bruno22rf
Ed must be feeling the pinch - net value of just under £129 million - I'm all for starting a collection for him.

Well for a tenth of his "Worth" (probably equal to the growth) he could keep 1000 of them on minimum wage for a year, so what is he doing apart from whinge? He could help all the music venues in Liverpool and have plenty over, I see KT speaking from L A USA on the BBC, another multi million singer, the music industry must have 100s of wealthy singer/ song writers but then those wealthy footballers cried poverty 🤔

TIGHTCHOKE
Just picture the possibilities, as a group of multi-millionaires they could support a lot of the venues across the country and then as the lockdown relaxes they could get the whole live music industry "back on track"
The Heron
What a bunch of cheeky people get your own hands in your own pockets, mind you the only currency that edd shearon has will be the washers he has been paid in for that carp he writes. According to the radio 1500 musicians have asked for help with the live music whatever, sorry but this is up there with the theatre, just not necessary at the moment, which probably means they'll get a bail out. I can agree that some of the wealthiest could possibly start the ball rolling with a slice of their own dosh, and as far as I know they could well be doing so, or intend to do so, but to describe music and theatre as 'just not necessary' is ridiculous really. The arts in general play a HUGE part in the mental health and well being of people the world over, and even more so in times of national, international and indeed global stress. The arts are an imperative part of human culture and well being, and I'd go so far as to suggest more so than any other single factor. I really don't see how the arts help people's mental health, exercise and fresh air probably do more good.
Yellow Bear
I remember that in the 90s when the Lieboor government with the connivance of the MPs from north of the border effectively shut down two thirds of the live music venues in England and Wales only with draconian licencing laws the big names were conspicuously silent. Scully
The arts play a massive part in the mental well being of people all over the world; that’s not just an opinion, it’s recognised fact. The arts encompass theatre, music, film, literature, design. Think of all the things we wouldn’t have if it weren’t for the arts. There’d be no books to read, apart from science and instructional books; no music of any kind, no films or dramas on tv, only news. In fact no tv either! People take the arts for granted and don’t realise just how big a part they play in our day to day lives. We need food to eat and we need exercise, and we need air to breath; but do away with the arts and that’s all we’ll have. None of us would be shooting or driving without designers, and how do designers design? Initially by creative thinking and drawing. Just edited to add that I know many working class people who go to the theatre, myself included; you don’t have to be well off. Wymondley
My son is a semi professional musician, plays drums/vocals in a few bands. Music is his life, as shooting is to ours. He had quite a few £££ invested in gigs this year that now wont materialise, many of the venues he would play at may never open again. It's easy to sneer at these rich musicians asking for help, but the message is real, live music is far too important to lose.
