Fredwalton
Hi deciding on some cartridges before harvest kicks in. Options are 32gr 6s or 30gr 5s on pigeons. Which do should I go for???
Lloyd90
28/30/32g 7’s.

figgy
As above 28g 7 will do all you need.
Rob85
I've started using 29g 6s in fibre wad for everything but clays
enfieldspares
It's all about face. Neither IMHO. For #5 on anything bar rabbits 30g is too little count of pellets. You want 32g #5 if #5 is the shot size you prefer. Yes it is only sixteen extra pellets but it is still more pellets than you've got if using but 30g. mossy835
yep 28g
wymberley
If you have some choke available and you have the need for a stretch, then 32g of 6&1/2s (2.5mm). If not then as said, 28g of 7s.
Stonepark
In 30gno 5 on an individual pellet basis, each of the 232 pellets has enough energy to potentially kill a pigeon at 60 yards, however the pattern for pigeon at full choke will have degraded to point at 40 yards that there is not enough pellets to kill reliably after this. At half choke pattern fails at 35 yards and at IC pattern fails at 30 yards. In 32g no6 on an individual pellet basis, each of the 304 pellets has enough energy to potentially kill a pigeon at 50 yards, however the pattern for pigeon at full choke will have degraded to point at 45 yards that there is not enough pellets to kill reliably after this. At half choke pattern fails at 40 yards and at IC pattern fails at 35 yards In 28g no7 (euro no 7.5) on an individual pellet basis, each of the 340 pellets has enough energy to potentially kill a pigeon at 45 yards, and the pattern for pigeon at full choke will have only degraded to point at 45 yards that there is still a surplus if pellets to ensure a reliable kill. At half choke pattern fails at 45 yards and at IC pattern fails at 40 yards. The 28g no7 and light choking on first barrel, gives you largest pattern to allow for any aiming errors, will kill to 45 yards with half choke and is cheapest to buy, hence it popularity. Ultrastu
28 grm of euro 7.5 . Or 28 grm no 7 english (same ) But to be fair my .410 will pull pigeons out of the sky up to 30 yds with 16 grm of no 6 .so really it's not what you shoot its keeping the ranges inside 40 yds (for a 12 b ) and hitting the birds .
