O/U recommendations please

If it fits - it hits. Just try a few at a shooting ground / shop where they’ve got some second hand and demo’ guns - or friends guns. You will settle on one that feels right and mounts consistently well, with the best sight picture etc. Obviously Betetta  or Browning / Miroku hold their value if you can find one that fits you.

Good luck - I hope you enjoy you’re new shiny gun whatever it turns out to be.

Lots of choice names to choose from among the "shotgun specialist" firms - but I've also seen some interesting O/U guns by "rifle makers" - such as Valmet, Ruger, etc.
Could be worth checking out as they may get overlooked, not being from one of the more known brands

Jonny at TGS has reviewed a few of the older 2nd hand guns that are starting to get overlooked, I've always fancied trying out the likes of an SKB but I can never seem to find any near me

If, when trying various guns, you find the Beretta Silver Pigeon suits you then I've a hardly used SP Sporter, 30" barrels, with adjustable stock for sale (hard case + chokes). These retail at over £1,800. Mine will be £1,200 including a slab of unwanted cartridges. PM if interested.

Well Bob the only thing I would say is quality counts a second hand beretta or browning etc is always going to be of a better quality than lesser name gun and there are a great many out there to choose from... a bit of advice if you have friends who could lend you a few different models then go for it....equally try going to your local clay ground that has a shop combined as many will let you try before you buy... as for taking your old William into the hide why not thats what they were born to do... hope you find something

For game I prefer a 20 bore just because everything is lighter to carry  around all day will go in the hide too , as will my affinity also for fowling , why not look out for a 12 and 20 bore combo I had one in my sights deposit paid but I owed a mate a favour so let him have it , it was also a  Franchi £500 for one action two sets of barrels,
