Si.F
After getting my family gun (william powell) renovated by "wabbitbosher", it is so hard to leave his place with only 1 gun. He very kindly ( or wisely) showed me a recent gun back from the barrel restorers. Something I have been yearning for for some time, a Damascus barrelled hammer gun. Out comes a WJ Davis of Birmingham- Beautiful barrels and in great condition, I think around the 1890 age - serial number 74775 this has been reproofed for nitro, but wanted to try out some black powder cartridges for a bit of fun, and what fun they are, although a little expensive so only for a treat. Using a hammer gun with black powder - hard to explain how much fun it was especially when someone tells you that you have broken the clay (as you cant see it through the smoke)

Farmboy91
Love to see these old guns out and in service, great stuff 👍 Any plans to take it for a driven day with the BP?
Velocette
I've got one of these Davis guns of a similar age,,but nowhere near as well finished. Yours is a different design to mine with the top bolt and scalloped action and looks very elegant. If you look at the name carefully you should see that it is W and J Davis, a detail someone on the American "Doublegunshop" forum pointed out to me, very politely, but implying that one should know more about ones own countries history! Using new cases I can load for around £12 a box. Lovely gun by the way. They always attract a lot of attention at the clay ground.
