wisdom Posted August 22, 2020 Report Share Posted August 22, 2020 I know it's a massive change from the jag x type I was looking at but does anyone have any experiences good or bad on the 1.6 diesel versions 2008 -10 model.Seen one in the flesh and they seem useful and the £30 road fund licence is a sweetener. London Best Posted August 22, 2020 Report Share Posted August 22, 2020 My sister has the saloon version in 1.6 diesel. It is very flexible and pulls like a train for a 1.6. Rewulf Posted August 22, 2020 Report Share Posted August 22, 2020 Watch out for issues with power steering, a very expensive job if it needs replacement , and a very common problem (Peugeot were doing them free for a while) Warning signs are ABS warnings, and intermittent loss of PAS. Vince Green Posted August 30, 2020 Report Share Posted August 30, 2020 (edited) My OH's got a 1.4 Jazz, it 12 years old now and it regularly does 700 to 800 miles in a week shuttling back and forward between London and Cornwall at the moment The secret for a good engine life really is in the oil. You must only use fully synthetic oil and the engine will last for ever. Budget oil is false economy but you have to trust your garage is using decent oil because a lot don't. washerboy Posted August 30, 2020 Report Share Posted August 30, 2020 I don't use a garage, a friend services my current car. Seat altea xl 2 litre tdi. This is also fully synthetic oil. I have it serviced every 10-12 k so about every 6 months. Breaks checked, shockers etc. Its needed one shocker and the breaks doing, generally wear and tare and it's cam belt etc was done at 85k. Pistol p Posted August 31, 2020 Report Share Posted August 31, 2020 If you get one, change the oil and filter regularly, this is a fantastic engine ( shared by Citroën, Peugeot, ford and Volvo) but the turbo works hard.
