The far end of what was loosely termed 'the garden' had some soil and I took up a concrete circle, added topsoil and simply planted into that. The vine on the building to the left and the C.montana on the back wall are planted only 300mm apart and trained in opposite directions. The rose on the arch is in good soil as is the honeysuckle to the right but the latter had to be planted behind the wall and trained over the top of it. The former use was as the village garage and the concrete is very thick so I left it down and laid plastic turf in five minutes. There are some planters on the right, the most effective one has a large Aucuba japonica in it.

It looked some heavy duty concrete ! a very nice job and a pleasure to sit in on a warm summers day.. i would think 👍
