Didn't have much money to spend on blades like that during student days (mid 1960s), so I often used the cut-throat from my dissection kit.   I found shaving was actually a lot easier than cutting thin sections of plant material for microscope slides.

Ditto - I use Tesco multi blade's, outstanding value for money, shave every other day for over a month for less than a quid - then swap the head.

They come with four spare heads for under a fiver IIRC.
