steve_b_wales
I had just got home from holidays abroad and switched the TV on to watch the news. I couldn't believe my eyes at what I was seeing!
Imperfection
I was driving home from Ipswich when it was reported om radio as a small plane. Was gobsmacked when the footage was replayed. Very sad day.
simonm
I was in Los Angeles when it happened and was still asleep due to time difference. Took me weeks to get home, can’t believe it’s 19 years.
Guest cookoff013
I was in the lab. Boss came down, "turn that **** [music] off, listen to the news". 10 mins later, we were sent home early. Got home just to see a tower fall. AVB
We had open ‘squark’ boxes with some of the brokers in the Towers and were talking to them as it happened. Will never forget.
del.gue
I was on nights. I got up and sat half asleep staring at the news. The towers had alread fallen. I remember thinking it was a trailer for a film. I snapped wide awake when my wife pointed out it was real.
Scully
I was painting at a clients house, with the radio on. Steve Wright said they were getting reports of a passenger plane having crashed into one of the towers, and I thought ‘wow, how the hell did that happen!?’ When he announced sometime later that the second tower had also been hit by another aeroplane, I switched on the tv. Unbelievable scenes.
Jaymo
Was doing some of my last ‘Command’ flights when we walked past the room that the oil rig guys used to wait in before being shuttled off-shore. Remember there was a tv on and we saw the first one hit- carried on and flew to AMS. On Landing we learnt the horror of the situation, were initially grounded but finally after great delay, took on our pax load- no bags or cases. Was the first and last time that I have ever given a PA stating the fact that the baggage wasn’t on board, and not been met with aggravation- but total silence. Visited Ground Zero a couple of years later. Returned in 2014 to see the changes and memorial Edited September 10, 2020 by Jaymo
