Local lockdown (wales) RFD visits

Recommended Posts

So I’m in the county of Cardiff and there are no RFD’s I’m aware of in the county.

so is it a “reasonable excuse” Welsh regs to travel further to visit an RFD? And should that be the nearest RFD or can I go to the one I prefer?

BASC released some guidance today that basically allows pest control and beating as a “reasonable excuse” but recreational shooting isn’t

no reply to my specific issue tho.....

I don’t get that....even an organised sporting event is ‘recreational’.

Basically if it work, pest control, beating etc you can travel but if it’s for enjoyment you can’t so on a driven a shoot the beater can come from outside the lockdown area the guns can’t

So even though a driven shoot is part an ‘organised sporting event’ , if the guns are from outside Wales, thats their days shooting scuppered?
Is there anything in place to recompense the guns and the estate?

They need to go corvid shooting and obviously because they are difficult to kill need to get their eye in on a few pheasants first ( just a little light humour in this confusing time )

If the estate is in a local lockdown area yes (not sure there are many sporting estates in the valleys tho)

chances of being stopped are low but as I’m considering selling some Guns not going on a driven shoot, the police will know when I sell a gun and where I live so unless buyer lives  in the same county seems an easy target also I’m considering a commission sale and preferred RFD is not in same county (as there are none)

BASC called to advise I contact my licensing dept for a reference to travel.
