Hi there,

I'm trying to find anyone that owns a shotgun by J.Price of Folkestone Kent circa 1856-1920?

I'm trying to research this jeweller / clock and watch retailer that also sold guns marked J.Price Folkestone ... Apart from a receipt i found in Maidstone library I can't seem to find much on the business plus the dates listed in Guns and gun makers isn't accurate and only lists this maker between 1900 to 1918 but he had been at another address for much longer... Id like to see some guns by him, but am not having any luck, if anyone owns a gun by him, please get in touch 🙂

More than likely Price was a retailer , possibly and Ironmonger or similar . Back in those times before the mass importation of foreign made mass produced guns , many shops ordered / bought in guns from Birmingham and sold them signed by themselves as maker . "Own brand" as many shops do today.

I suggest trying old town directories and look under ironmongers , seedsmen , department stores , chandlers .
