Time for independence?

With Wales looking to close the borders, with Scotland looking at the same and the need for the Tunnel diminished is it time to make the move to independence? England standing alone could break free of all of this sniping on it's door step and become a dominant force in the North Sea.

Except most in Wales don't want Independence. It's that idiot Drakeford who thinks he speaks for the majority. Pretty sure the same applies to Scotland and Nippy.

I do hope your right. Just listening to him on the news and he sounds like England is more an enemy than Covid.

There will never be independence in the true sense as England is Britain's last colony. You only have to look at how "diktats" from Parliament are being imposed on the population at present in these covid-19 times. Can't do this...must do that...this isn't allowed...this must be done.

I’m pro English independence 🤣

The loudest Welsh and Scottish are frequently ungrateful of our occupation. It would have made a great Monty Python sketch “What have the English done for us?” I have many Scottish and Welsh friends, all are pro-UK, however the union has been mishandled and the whining noise of independence from the extreme anti-English is becoming a real annoyance. In my practice if someone threatens to leave then they are gone same day a la Malcom Tucker. Same with every football team I have ever captained, but you don’t have to be as careful with that.

So because the Nationalist minority shout loudest, you would have Wales and Scotland independent even though the silent majority don't want it? i haven't met many Welsh Nats since I've lived here, but each one I have has been barking mad.  I asked one exactly what Wales has to export if they were independent and he said water. Like England is an arid dustbowl.

No, I’m like you but with a shorter temper. If the silent majority don’t want to be kicked out then they need to whip the nationalists into order.

The main this is for politicians, to actually tell the truth ( for once ), Far to many lies, untruths & manipulation of social media.

We will all ( apart from the very rich ) be far worse off next year

We'll have to disagree then. It shouldn't be down to everyday British people to ensure their country stays on the UK. It should be down to the rabid Nats to leave if they can come up with a credible plan, whip up enough support and win a vote. Which they never will.

The trouble is that it is this extreme left wing (Plaid) that is running the shop as Labour needs them to support them so they get what ever they want - and they also have the ear of the press et al. Brexit party got a lot of votes by saying that they wanted to stop devolution but it does now appears that once they got their snout in the trough they have changed their tune.

There is an Abolish party that has been formed but I think that it is possibly too late in the day for this now although Reckless is rumored to be jumping ship (again) to this party. I do and will support this party but it does concern me that it may be a lost vote!!

Drakeford is deluded and earns just short of Boris as a Salary. They are also wanting to expand the "Parliament" (which they have sneaked in this change under the cover of corvid) by 50% which will be a 50% increase to tax payers (currently it is funded from council tax).

If it carries on I think we will be moving back across the border to England - I didn't want to move here but the MIL who is Welsh was heavily whispering into my wifes ear - I wanted to be by the M6 when we moved north!!!

Whilst not independence I think we need a state where the MPs of the devolved states can not vote on things that are devolved to their own parliament.

The problem there is that we have WAMP's and also Westminster MP's for Wales. I think that we should have a Welsh Cabinet made up of the Westminster MP's and they have a slant for Wales.

I think you are wrong about Scotland if there was a 2nd vote it would be a totally different outcome next time & Boris knows it.

Not so sure, but if that is the case, they can leave fairly and squarely if that's what the majority want and vote for. It would have to be properly leaving though, not borrowing our currency, our police, our Army and living on Westminster handouts till they "get it sorted."

Personally I think its all going to come on top with Nippy. The average Jock is sick of hearing her rhetoric. There are other things going on in the world than her hatred of her Westminster masters.

I don’t think America is a very good example. You replaced a very solid system of governance with a ludicrous presidential system. We think of America akin to how a conservative family with some sort wayward child who made it big in porn/drug dealing must feel: responsible, embarrassed and powerless to intervene rather than respected as a leading civilisation.
