Small Rucksack or Gamebag for Beating

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use a wax cotton rucksack when beating. With the new restrictions in place our beating team have to carry there lunch and drinks with them and I wonder if a small rucksack might be more suitable than a game bag.

Otherwise the usual list of game bags comes up, mainly the Monrose (which everyone says looks ugly) or the game bags being sold on Ogdens Shooting supplies.

Since the Montrose game bags are so fugly, and the Brady bags so expensive, I bought one from Quality Gunslips Ltd. Good quality and do various sizes to suit

Hi bigmcg - I've been looking at the Quality Gunslip game bags. Which one did you go for & how many birds can you fit in it?

Cheers

Generally avoid game bags for picking up as I don’t want all the weight on one shoulder. I have been using a firedog vest for three seasons and it it a game changer. Can hold 30+ partridge although Very heavy when full. So moral is go for a small rucksack such as ex army day sack.

I was carrying the bag on a cocker trial, hence the large number of bunnies. usually only carry my essential bits in the bag and a few birds. Have looked at the vest and they do look good, but I usually beat not pickup so not really worth it for me

Cheers but need something waterproof really. Although you could put a liner on it good price tho.

Never had a problem with mine. Everything goes in contained in plastic bags or bottles. Very easy really!:good:

I bought one of these recently for a 6 week project where I needed to carry a few small things and needed my hands to carry other stuff. I had a shotgun and a spade in the rifle carrier bit as well as my bits and pieces in the main rucksack. It's not huge inside but it carried a fair amount of bits and bobs and was comfy to carry all night lamping. Its also got a round the middle clip for extra stability.
