I had the chance to handle the last true (pre-Purdey's acquisition in 1948) Woodward made O/U when it was listed for sale by one of long established gunshops in the East of England. I have to say that it didn't float my boat" at all. It had no liveliness about it. And for that revelation I am glad that I did have the chance to handle it. Sometimes the anticipation can be better than the actuality.

I have never handled any O/U with a feeling of liveliness about it. Personally, they all feel like a plank to me, hence my dislike of them.
