That was the "crowd stopper" technique, bounce them off the tarmac and up at the knees.

It was a requirement at short range.

A decent guy I used to shoot with had done a couple of tours of NI, he reckoned the baton rounds scuffed up nicely off the tarmac to become sharp edged.

With hindsight you would have to agree that NI was handled badly by all sides.

I was told about that but got mixed up with this incident on facebook!, This incident with the rubber bullet had only happened an hour previous and I was told a day or two before that someone had been shot dead for showing off an air rifle in public, It seemed very strange!!
