you could have it reemed out to 2 3/4 as pressures are the same    or reload your own

????? How can you say this without knowing what the gun in question was proofed at originally ? These will not be the same as modern proof pressures . Not to mention that in doing so the gun will be rendered out of proof .

a suggestion  which would then lead to a gunsmiths door to be checked over    chambers worked on then reproofed

It would be interesting to know just how many gunsmiths in the UK have chamber reamers on hand in all bores  ,410 to 12 at least  . I will bet a £1 its not many .

It would be interesting to know just how many “gunsmiths” are left in the UK, never mind reamers, I will bet a £1 its not many. :)

I wouldn't have thought many either, being a dying trade. Not many gunmakers left to apprentice and train them or gun shops to use them. Too many closing.

Good gunsmiths will be ran off their feet.

The days of gunsmiths making all their own tools are long gone, they'll make bits and pieces but not reamers, they'll be bought in along with lots of other tooling.
