Norfolk fishing boat blast

There was a lot of ordnance being disposed of just off the east coast of Scotland this autumn, not sure what they were disposing of but plenty of radio information for over a week or two. I wondered how much sea life was destroyed as any underwater explosion is felt more than one in air due to waters incompressiblity.

Nightmare for the crew!

At one time I am sure there was  quite extensive dumping of munitions off the Fife coast very surprised to learn this still goes on.

Takes some force to push the hull plates in like that.

Yes but a WW2 mine can sink a battleship with a six inch thick hull, blowing a hole big enough to drive a car through. If they had brought up an old mine the trawler would have been cut in half. Fortunately nothing on that scale happened

The boat was said to have been thrown up from the sea and land heavily, and for the internal bulkheads to buckle and the engine to be moved from the bedplate along with other extensive damage would indeed involve a lot of force. Whatever exploded may have done so on the seabed or further up in the water.
