Shooting in covid 4 areas ???

Can't believe that shoots are still going on in tier 4 areas. Two of my local shoots are open next Sunday. I was under the impression that the government is saying dont leave your home. So how are shooters getting to the shoots? Or are these guys & girls doctors & nurses or essential workers.  We are just coming up to 70K in deats in the UK & getting worse.
I am not bothered on these senseless people getting COVID, but would like them punished for all they give it too.

thought you were not to gather in groups over 6 in number ,so how can it be within the rules.

Limit your squad to a maximum of six, don't mix with other squads, and limit the amount of people in the clubhouse/shop. It's common sense really.

They cannot claim everyone at the shooting ground is one group or they would have to say the same for everyone in a supermarket.

Shooting shouldn’t be happening in tier 4 unless on your own / within household.

Or one person can meet one other from another household.

Why anyone would want to go around touching buttons after god knows how many other people during a pandemic I have no idea. Leave it for now. Go when the country is recovering.

It's called hand sanitiser for a reason.

Cant believe what members are saying on this forum. We have just had the equivalent over the last 9 months of 175 average size jumbo jets fall out the sky with all lives lost & people are saying its safe to go shooting.??  It clearly says on the government's website.  Don't go out unless compleatly necessary in tier 4 areas.
Shooting ain't necessary.

I think you should read the rules in greater detail, recreation and exercise are allowed and shooting is amongst that which is allowed as long as the rules of Tier 4 are adhered to.

It's all there if you can be bothered to read it.

Orston has had its collective mind changed.

Strangely the Sportrap Competition is still going ahead and the site is open for practice.

I buy my cartridges there and have done a bit of practise for game season - staff are ok Covid wise but the cafe has been consistently occupied by groups and shooters not distancing or wearing masks where they should be. Not Orston’s fault but people going are not behaving sensibly when I’ve seen them (that’s not including the 🔔end who pointed his pcp at me in the car park telling me it’s ok as it’s not loaded and who if we didn’t have Covid would have risked a nose bleed).

Then why are they clearly saying on TV this morning "Boxing day" NOT TO GO OUT in tier 4 areas. We are trying to save the lives of the NHS staff & many more. Yet idiots plan to socialise at shoots because the CPSA says you can. Good luck to you all.

How many people died from heart attack, cancer, road accidents, other accidents etc etc etc this last week. The clever clogs down at No10 is not including this nor is he including the 'false' reports of covid death, like dying of something totally different in the 28 days since a test.  All inflated to frighten the living doo daars out of people because they are scared stiff that their inadequate NHS will not be able to cope.

Given a choice between going to a supermarket and meeting at a shoot where 2m distancing in the open air is respected, I am pretty sure which one poses less risk.

Just as anyone who goes lone deer stalking, pigeon decoying, rough shooting, walking, cycling or canoeing represents zero risk to either themselves or their 'bubble' (a phrase that is clearly rubbish as at least one person in every bubble either goes shopping or receives a delivery of shopping)

But shopping is regarded as essential. Most shooting and clays in particular are not!

therein lies the crux of the matter, the risk of doing something 'essential' is not being managed at all. My mrs does any supermarket shopping and she reliably informs me that many folk are still not wearing masks and definitely do not respect the 2m space, many do not use the hand sanitising facilities available and many are in groups of 2 or 3. Millions of people meet in supermarkets every day at great risk to the NHS.

If this was being managed correctly then I would agree that we should then consider the risks of smaller meetings of folk but until this situation changes it appears to me that meetings of smaller numbers of folk that are properly managed are far lower risk to the NHS than the irresponsible folk doing 'essential' shopping. I have heard game shoots have been far more responsible than supermarkets at managing the spread of the virus.

It is at best unfortunate that our powers that be seem incapable of seeing where the risks really lie and making up rules that reflect this rather than ambiguous rules open to interpretation.

I cannot comment on folk that go to clay grounds as I have not been to one in several years but from the sound of it they could do better.
