What's the point of ID checking someone wearing a mask?

To check their age.

Same as when they aren't wearing their mask.

It's just harder because you can't see their chin.

When they censor faces in the newspapers etc they cover the eyes, not the mouth so I'm not sure that ID ing someone with a mask is that much of a problem.

I have nothing to say other than I’m envious.  I wish a couple of young ladies would ask me to prove i’m old enough!

One of the most endearing things about going for a beer in the USA is the potential of being asked to prove your age, it’s rejuvenating and i’m not even ‘that’ old.  It is worth a trip there for that alone.

Happened to me in the US. I was in my mid-50s, bald and what hair I had was grey. On the plus side, I got reduced entry into some places as an over-50 without having to provide evidence. Funny lot.

:good:

There being no room in the inn as it were we had to spend 10 weeks in a downtown Las Vegas casino. Among the younger airmen we had a baby faced 22 year old who would not get served at the bar until he produced his RAF identity card where-upon his order was 'on the house'. From then on, all the older looking 20 year olds and younger lads stayed watching 'in the wings' until he was served and then they all trooped in and had no trouble having sussed that the barman would be too embarrassed to ask again.

Worked for Tesla in SF and went to Detroit for two weeks then returned with a stopover in LAX, the bar keeper asked me for my ID for a burger with a beer, I was 64 y/o at the time. I did fly off the rag a bit with him. USA, sometimes I do wonder about the education.

We were at the other end of the scale , up until this year when the virus put a stop to any country fairs we used to go to the Sandringham game fair , when we first went we were in out late 50 and they always sold us the tickets for o a p which were a bit cheaper so no complaints , now we more than qualify for the reduced rate I would be over the moon if we got asked for ID
