Can't wait for the explanation!

OK, enough is enough.

August: order Rifle

Beginning October: submit co-terminous renewal application

Mid December: told to expect rifle in January/February. Also given Section 28B - 8 weeks -  without asking

Towards end December informed rifle in so ask Firearms Dept for help. Most obliging -  will send original back next week

One Week later: nothing

Early following week: advised rifle bipod stud fitted and ready for collection. Speak to Fire's Dept. "yes, our fault we should have automatically returned your licences and we failed to do so so leave it with me. Somerset over-rode the advisory bit and closed the County RFD's so end of. So inspite of the second approach to the Fire's Dept and the sterling work of the lady concerned we've now hit lawful lock-down

Two days later: 2 FACs arrive, one dated 30/12/2020 and post-marked 4/1/21 and one dated 5/1 with post-mark 5/1. Both with the same error. A telcon reflects that I must return these for correction. Included with the second FAC was the original SGC but modified to remove one gun and was correct

Today: one FAC and one SGC arrive with the full 5 year duration. The FAC had the same error and the removed shotgun on the SGC had as if by magic re-appeared. These will have to go back.

Anyone caring to check will see that over the years I have never expressed any opinion about D&CC Firearms Department other than appreciation. At the moment that department tells us exactly what and how they're going to do things. Apparently anyone who is defined as extremely clinical vulnerable to Covid 19 is still expected to chase around from home to the Post Office with gay abandon. Also for those who might wish to comment on one aspect, down here, if you are going to renew by post you must include the current certificates which then should be returned to you.
