We wrestled with the seemingly unnecessary expense of Velux (and we looked at the Fakro ones which were half the price). In the end, given the area and the importance we decided on velux (with the auto close full bifta) and it turned out that the builder refused to fit anything that wasn’t velux because of brand loyalty and warranty (he said that when he left a job he didn’t want to come back unless someone was paying him to). So, if it’s important space then go velux and don’t cut any corners. If it’s an Occasional use loft room and where the windows will stay shut for 360 days of the year then go Fakro.
