I'm sure just cartridges do the same.they would need to see the original, theres nowt to stop you sening a blag one via an email.just saying.

I'm sure they don't, or not anymore anyway. I uploaded a pic of my SGC to the website.  Sort of more in keeping with the 21st century...

Photo copy, fax or email but pretty sure I wouldn't sent the original

Have you used a fax machine this century?

Incidentally, as emails are unencrypted this is a bad idea.

They have replied to my email and said it’s Lancashire police policy, has any one dealt with Empire cartridges

I’ve dealt with Empire Cartridges. Andrew is a great lad to deal with. I was the first paying customer in the country, and due to a courier problem, he drove my order 2.5 hours to my door!!!!!!

And also I’ve sent my licence and had it back very quickly by recorded delivery.

..nothing new there then,I`m sure BASC will be onto Lancs Constabulary like a ton of cotton wool!

It`s a shame for Empire as it`ll be stopping a lot of people from trying their product, which looks good. They`ll have to try and get them into a few dealers around the regions .

The law states that you must show the original certificate each and every time of purchasing shotgun cartridges, it does not allow for copies, be that in paper or electronic form.

Otherwise how does the seller know you still have a certificate, could have one this month but it gets revoked next month.

So technically JC or Empire cannot hold a copy on file and be compliant with the letter of the law.

But as we know each police force allows what ever they like or do not like.

Unfortunately, the law dates from 1988, when there was no internet to speak of and needs to play catch-up with technology....... Without any additional new restrictive laws being tacked on.

Similarly, certificates should have moved on to credit card to carry and paper cert for transfers, marking up rifle ammo purchase at least

JustCartridges have been flying in the face of this rule for years. Met police RFD's are not allowed to work the same system which means an uncompetitive market hence JC prices being on the high side.

You...you do remember what absolute cluster **** the paper counterpart for the driving licence was?

Obviously it varies by force area, but transfers are now done online, which give you  a transaction reference number.

The actual writing onto the SGC is a legal requirement to be sure, but that master record is the database.  Your cert needs to match that, not the other way round.

their product does look good and we spoke to empire cartridges about stocking their product , the problem was the cost to us was too high , there is not much markup on carts as a supplier and we would have to sell basic 30g 6s for more than most pigeon/ clay shooters are willing to pay. not many clay / pigeon shooters want to pay more than £50 to £55 a slab and our trade price was higher than that.

who is going to pay £65 for empire when we can offer gamebore at £52 with the same profit margin on both

we would loved to have stocked them but it was not financially viable

wish them all the luck but they will struggle to get into retailers on their current pricing structure

unfortunately shooters will pay anything up to £100 a slab if they are shooting pheasants but pigeons are not worth those prices apparently

That backs up what another retailer told me tbh.
