Decided to treat myself for my special birthday

One time I moved house, I rode a 1997

Honda fire blade and had saved my RD350LC in the shed, rode the Honda to the new house then the LC.

As I got on the lovely sounding LC with my rose tinted specs on I pulled off with a smile ! 
A mile later going through some nice roads at a fast pace that bike screaming like I remembered, but I forgot the pencil thin powerband the flexible/bending frame hard tyres and poor road feel !

sold it shortly after moving 🙂

I have been out on it once for a good run recently and its superb, I remember them being bigger and faster when i was 17-18, it was still very enjoyable, The only thing i noticed was i had to change riding style because brakes and handling are not on par with modern machinery, but, once you do this - its really nice to riding a well sorted 2 stroke again.

I had an RD identical to that M reg 1974, i bypassed the 250s altogether passed my test on a Honda 50 5 days after my 17th birthday and bought a triumph Daytona 500 1971. Then the RD350. I did a Solo tour of  the Alps when i was 18 on that RD350. It never missed a beat.

I can remember at first riding through France, passing the fuel stations seeing all the bikes parked and the riders laid on the grass resting. I found this surprising, but soon i realised just how big France was and how tired riding for days made you.

It was a steep learning curve for me, and i think i grew up a lot on that tour.  Long before satellite navigation or mobiles, it was just me the bike and the tool roll under the seat. One thing it did teach me was not to take too much gear, i was massively overloaded when i started preparing for this trip, glad i did a few trial runs up the A1 to north Yorkshire. i trimmed down my gear to the minimum, a trend i have gone with ever since when  touring on the bike.

That is a nice clean bike, love the sound of triples, i have had Four over the past 46 years a Kawasaki Mach 3 500 HIE 1970 , and two Trident T150s  1970 & 1973. and a Triumph sprint 900 1996 i still have .

Nothing sounds like a triple in my opinion.

Very distinctive exhaust note on a triple, I loved my old Kh, the noise from that was really nice, especially when it got matched and ported to make the most of a set of Gp style expansion chambers

My 1st long distance trip was from Newark Notts, to Lands end on a Honda Cb175 back in 1977 - never forgotten that trip, I learnt so much in a short space of time.
