New Gun Conundrum

So I’m looking at a new gun before next season. Shot with a 26” Escort for years, never missed a beat.
can’t decide between the new Franchi Affinity Elite 3.5 with the Cerakote barrel, or one of 3 ATA’s (black action, 3 inch camo or 3.5 inch camo).

My local marsh is pretty muddy so the benefits of plastic guns are obvious, but I feel like a wood stock gun would be an all rounder for clays and hopefully some game in future...

Any thoughts?

I’ve only ever read good things about the Franchi. That said, the reviews of the ATA’s seem decent too.

I just don’t know whether to go semi auto again or O/U

I own an ATA and a Hatsan...

After 2 and a bit years of ATA ownership, it's been absolutely fine.  I like the lack of fussy engravings, personally.  It gets used on our little DIY syndicate, and for clays.

The Hatsan gets used everywhere else for the rough stuff.  It just works, though not on clay loads.

I'd did 'scratch the itch' last summer and treated myself to a secondhand Benelli Montelfeltro (similar mechanism to a Franchi, but not the same).  It comes up and points lovely, and is incredibly light, but it has woodwork, so guess what, for the rough stuff I'm still breaking out the Hatsan...

Buy a new gun if you fancy one, but never, that’s NEVER, sell one you can shoot with.

Best bit of advice ever. 15 (ish) years ago I sold a browning GTi (black with gold inlay). Best gun I ever owned and shot brilliantly with it.

I’d buy the same gun back today.

Thanks all. I guess until the shops open and I can handle some guns to see how they shoulder, I can’t really do much.

Make a daytrip to one of the places where you can actually shoot the secondhand guns. They may not have the exact models you're after but will give you a good idea, even if you want to buy new.  There's enough secondhand Franchis out there, and probably a few ATAs by now.

What is this 'selling guns' thing you speak of?
