islandgun
On the news last night, Greenland have voted to not allow mining for minerals which are used for mobile phones and electric cars because they dont want to destroy their land. I wonder where the greens stand on this [probably phoning each other as we speak] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-56643429 https://qz.com/1988240/rare-earths-mining-takes-center-stage-in-greenland-elections/ Edited April 8 by islandgun

Do we think it’s ok for the salt flats in chile to be destroyed but not ok to jostle some polar bears in Greenland? Where are the rare earth metals going to be mined in a world so committed to mobile devices?
clangerman
fair play to them why destroy your country so some fool can have the latest mobile or drive a piece of rubbish

Indeed, and all the lithium, and other stuff needed for all the 'green' transportation we need to save the world for Gretas future? Good on the Greenlanders for standing up, but it's a short lived thing, they WILL be bought, or 'coerced' one way or another. Remember, we only have 10 years left to save the world 🙄

I was thinking more a cash incentive, theres only 50,000 natives scratching a living , a few hundred grand a piece could easily sway any vote. Plus , Trumps idea to 'buy' Greenland wasnt such a far fetched idea now was it, they pretty much did it with Alaska, pre goldrush . What Im getting at though , is the drive to be all environmental, whilst mining some of the most unspoilt land on the planet, possibly upsetting a key part of the global thermostatic ecosystem, flies in the face of ALL climate change advocates. Grand hypocrisy.

Grand hypocrisy. Ah but we could set an anti technology group on Facebook and Instagram. Then film ourselves punching a plastic bag. You know - take action.
