Yeah, Frost here this morning, but watching House Sparrows collecting pigeon feathers I've put out for them, is good fun.

Frost here too this morning. Not heard a cuckoo yet but usually a fair few around here. We have starlings starting to nest in the roof, they keep coming down and stripping my other half’s lavender plants 😂.

If you put some Straw/hay down near your plants, they will probably take that instead, ( and feathers)

All the best

A Cuckoo calling yesterday around Woodmancote, (Cotswold escarpment)..........Always seems to be  around 7th-12th April to hear the first in Gloucestershire.

...and thank you from PW’s own birdy correspondent. No Cuckoos here yet and the Swallows are two days overdue. There is a Black Redstart locally.

Please tell your other half that the long flowering shoots on the Lavender should have been cut off last September.

My other half is no gardener, she’s currently trying to grow chives, it’s been a pot of soil for coming up to two months now.

I have Chives she can transplant when I next see you. They are easy to grow and maintain.

My first cuckoo of year in Mid Suffolk yesterday. Stone curlew on drillings next to where i was shooting Sunday. Saw one on that same field 4 years ago.     NB

Only Stone Curlew I have ever seen was on Minorca...........with Bee Eaters above it on a power line.

Yes and those marvellous Eleonora's falcons.

Yeah brilliant, I saw a red footed falcon there as well, and also just offshore, some Balearic Shearwaters.

The national bird of Majorca is the Hoopoe, plenty of those to be seen as well.
