Hmmm, well I have just sat here and tried saying Hazel in a commanding manner, not working for me but its your dog, have fun on shoot days. :)

I know, that's exactly the thing I mean!  We've scrubbed Hazel now.

off the wall I know but how about Nula/una (depending which source) Queen of the fairies cos if she favours her Dam she will be stunning.

It's a great suggestion, I love the name(s) but I don't feel it quite fits the bill.  Appreciate the idea though!

maybe MIDGE,  jim backwards  ish

😅 what if she bites me!

We're trying out the name Connie now.  It rolls off the tongue easily, has power when called out loudly, and its original meaning from the name Constance means "steadfastness".

The Lady who I have used for a couple of training lessons - Kathryn Wellock has a small cocker call Wick which works really well with a fast nose down bum up type dog working dog. Always really loved the name Quick shout-able and a bit different !

still like Pip for "Pippa" for my Sprocker as again easy to go from Pip to PIP "usually with a few ranting words after" when she's given you that glance over the shoulder and you just know that they are about to embarrass you  and go "self employed "

That’s my impatient eyeballing cocker’s name too! 😂

Connie has been home with us for a week now and she's a little beauty 😍

We spent plenty of time out in the garden when we first got home, allowing her to adjust to her surroundings before going to the next step of heading indoors.  She likes toys but prefers picking up garden debris or stones out of the gravel, which is a bit worrying and has to be policed quite heavily.

She took it all in her stride, and amazed me with how unfazed she was by all the new sights, sounds and generally the upheaval of moving home.  By dinner time it was as if she'd been there for weeks!  She tucked straight in and had a second helping!

It only took 24 hours for Connie to accept the crate as her bed, with some encouragement using a few treats to get her in there.

Willow quickly worked out that Connie isn't quite so efficient yet at hoovering up the tiny little leftover crumbs 😆

The only trouble is, I bought two beds to go in the crate; one of them is grey but the other is the exact same shade of brown as the dog, so you have to look twice to check if she's in there!!

Also, the big bed (which used to sleep 3 until recently 😢) is Connie coloured and you can literally walk past it with her curled up in the middle and not see her!  Willow's not 100% chuffed with having a puppy inflicted on her at her ripe old age of 11, but she's actually been better than I thought.  Connie has had a few good tellings off from Willow when her play has gone too far over the line, but Willow's gaining tolerance.  This evening, with Connie literally suspended in the air with a mouthful of her ear, Willow simply stood there giving me the grumpiest looking face in the world!!

Connie's so clever and has been learning domestic procedures very quickly.  She's already sitting, going to her crate on simply a verbal command and runs to exactly the right spot at her feed stand where you're about to put her bowl there.  She then tries to climb into Willow's dinner, but all in good time!  I'm super chuffed with her :)
