Auto clay trap - new controller

I have borrowed an auto clay trap but there is a catch - we couldn't find the clay release controller!

I need to find a new male connector and then attach this to either a wireless or wired switch system. It has a four pin connector, does anyone know the correct part name for this or is it specific to the trap maker (Laporte i think) so I can buy the part?

Also looking for a wired or wireless switch if anyone has one surplus to requirements.

Thanks, GBS

Yes that is the connector, available from RS Components, but the guts are the hard part.

Been a while since I worked with Hartings connectors, but if you take apart the mating half on the trap, you should find p/ns moulded onto the internals, which you can google, and you should be able to figure the corresponding male/female connector from the datasheets.  Put the manufacturer's p/n into RS, and away you go.  Not straightforward, but do-able.

All, thank you for all of the input.

I've had no joy with Laporte.

Harting do make a connector of the same pattern as this but it appears, when dismantled, that this one is from ILME. CEF have this for a whopping £2.80 (one clay trap firm is offering them for $25!!)

Once I have a new connection does anyone know how straightforward it is to wire in a new push button control? Is it a case of buying a three port, momentary push button and wiring it to the connector? Something like this:

Thank you all again, GBS

I would be taking the hardwired connector off first to see what was going where.
it maybe a simple switch and you could just change the complete connector

I would be seeing if I could workout the pinout on the existing connector, purchasing a mating half and wiring a switch to it, as per the OP's plan.  Hartings are really robust, and it also keeps the trap factory, which is helpful for the next person who has to work on it.
