Hi all

Just wondering, can anyone recommend a new middle of the range android mobile phone? My oneplus 5t has just died and can't be factory reset - it only lasted 3.5 years so I wouldn't go OnePlus again. I'm Sim free. I need to get a new one quickly! The OnePlus was £500 odd, I don't want to spend that much again... Budget of £250 maybe?

Thanks.

I was recently in the same boat and did not want to spend a fortune, after some research I went for a Samsung Galaxy A40 Dual-SIM 64GB, managed to pick one up for £160, it does everything I need and more, the camera is very good...https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-a40-black-5.9-64gb-4g-dual-sim-unlocked-sim-free-sm-a405fzkdbtu/version.asp

THanks folks. I'd be happy with a Samsung, they're generally reliable in my experience. More than 32gb storage would be useful, but if the A20e supports external SD cards that would work...

the Samsung Galaxy A40 Dual-SIM as 64GB

Well, I've gone for a Poco X3 Pro. Supposedly a good budget option, decent storage & RAM, memory card slot, fast processor. Bit chunky perhaps and the camera isn't wonderful, but I don't really care about that. Just got to manage without a phone until it arrives now, could be a few days... :s

Ahh, it's Xiaomi, which I'm not that keen on for the reasons mentioned above. Hmm.

Well, I'm uncertain of the Chinese governments involvment in Xiaomi, and have some privacy concerns. But, the value is hard to argue with - and I couldn't find anything definite about data mining etc. on Xiaomi kit. Maybe I'm being paranoid...

I had shares in Tencent a Chinese company that provides systems for social media often through phones. The China govt has decided the data collected by China Co's does not belong to them and must be shared (shares dived) Not least of all is the share to the China government.

The China Govt has decreed that the data collected by any of 'their' companies including those listed abroad belongs to the state.  My shares in Tencent holdings in China have tanked as a result.

I have tried android but I can’t seem to get on with them.
I think being stuck with apple for years has ruined my ability to use android.
we had some at work for a while but I really struggled.

I am exactly the same with Apple, everyone in my family has apple but I just love my Samsung A21s and can't get on with Apple.

Try to avoid the Chinese spy phones, Huawei, Lenovo, Xioami etc.

As opposed to the American spy phones from Apple and everything running Android (Google/Alphabet) eg Samsung etc etc

When choosing a phone you need to think who you want to be spied on by.  No good options at all I'm afraid.

The data collected by the West is private to the Company, but that from China is Govt public. You may believe that the Western stuff is hacked by Govt but thats a seperate matter.
