old'un
just thought I would ask here first. A neighbour who recently passed away has left me a number of items and this steam train is one such item, its about 33” long, 7” wide, 10” high, not sure what to do with it and not sure if its worth a lot. I do know in his younger days he used to build and run these train at steam advents. Any suggestion/help appreciated.
ditchman
those models can be worth a lot of money............the price can be greatly uplifted with a current boiler test certificate...if it is sold without it you will get 50% less
hawkfanz
as simon says i presume its 7in gauge live steam, could be worth £1000,s check for boiler cert,if its still valid send it to a specialist action, theres a railwayaner action house in sheffield they could advise you. ratchers
Specialist auction is best but just about all auction houses are on the world wide web. Seen these make a lot of money, hundreds if not thousands for quality and it looks well made.

old'un
Thanks for all the help and suggestions, bit of an update on the steam train. Been told its a “Great Western king loco in 3 ½ inch gauge live steam”.For the most the parts are hand made from scratch or machined from die-cast parts and would have taken a hobbyist around two years to build. I have also had a couple of rough valuations from online steam train enthusiasts and was blown away at the value of it, well into 4 figures without a boiler test certificate. al4x
Have a word with Dreweatts auctioneers they have a regular transport sale. We move a fair few from sales that they have and as you say the values can be high with recent ones being high 5 figures though they tend to be the larger ones. Modafinale
Seams a shame your neighbour left it to you as he must have thought you would look after it and appreciate it. but it’s yours to do what you want 👍🏻
