Driving licence question

Just received my photo card licence renewal. It runs out 1st November and I'm 70 end of december. I'm assuming it will renew till the end of December then I'll have to apply again for the 3 year one. According to the form this will come 90 days prior to renewal which will be 3 weeks time.

Has any one been in this position and am i correct.

Did mine in June .and runs out next June when 70 .it says on the license when it runs out .

you may get a letter to tell you

I though so. Looks like it will be £14 for two months and probably won't get it back before my renewal at 70 is sent in which is free.

Also your photo not be out of date.Daughter informs me you can be fined up to £1000.She’s in the police.

That's right.

If you have a valid passport your ok or you'll need a new photo.

Also be aware you loose you grandfather rights at 70 unless you use form d4 via postal application along with a medical form from your doctor.

Online applications you loose them as well it tells you right at the end of the online application.

In the grand scheme of things currently it's not very high on the list at all. The effects of TM are just starting to bite. The full effects will take a little be longer to be seen. In 20 years its easy the worst I've seen across the board, most days a full team is no where near fielded and the demand far outstrips resources. You then have  to base what you go to on what the threat/harm/risk is.

Sad but true.

C1 mainly that now requires a medical firm.

But to retain pulling a trailer over 750kg we must apply by post or you'll lose that as well.

So I'm told but cannot confirm trawling the internet.

My mates is due November and he's already applied by post so we'll see.

  • 1 month later...

Just received my renewal letter today.

Only two options;

1. Online and they use your passport photo.    No use to me, no passport since 2006!    Cost £14

2. Go to a Post Office and have a photo taken.   Cost £21:50

I wonder if Richard Turpin is involved, bloody daylight robbery!  :w00t:

I will be 73 at the end of November, so due for my second three year renewal.  The application form landed here two days ago. Hope this helps.

....and you don't look a day over 80

Yes the three year renewals are very straight forward you will get a letter etc etc. No charge and the new one will eventually come through the post.

Mine is on a three year now, I thought  it was free? Due again in March 22

I don't have a passport either, I might not be allowed back so I don't leave.

It is free when you renew over 70 years of age, I am a fair way off that at the moment!  :cool1:

Just checked.

I can apply by post, have to include an up to date photograph and it will cost me £17 plus the cost of the photograph and a stamp.

OR I can go in to a Post Office and for £21 they will take the photograph and complete the form for me.

Really very easy to work out, Post Office here I come!
