My Mossberg .410 pump has a 9 (ish)inch mod on the 28" barrel. It's like a Tower Pattern musket! I came to me like that. It's too long for the cabinet without unscrewing the mod and also for all my gun bags.

There is scope to move the mod down the barrel several inches without it touching the muzzle. Any reason why I shouldn't do such a thing? Increased noise maybe?

Answered my own question. Between the mount and where the baffles start is a void about 5" long. I started with the muzzle at the lower end of this and dropped the mod until the muzzle was right by the baffles. Bloody loud to the point of sounding just like a high velocity .22 round through my dads Browning pump. Back to where it was I guess.

What's wrong with just unscrewing the mod .?

I do every time with the one on my .410 .
