Shooting in strong wind

Hi lads would you go shooting rabbits in very strong wind 25 mile hour or more with 22lr

I shoot of quad sticks but I find the wind blows me about a bit so don’t go out when very windy

don’t like wounding them I can’t lie down to shoot owing to back injury and I would never get back up old age

That’s what I keep telling farmer it’s to wind I forgot to say the farm is right on the beach with winds mainly of the sea

which get quite wind

Sounds like perfect ferreting ground! 🙂 Do you know no one with ferrets who could do you a favour? Shotgunning would be the way to go then, or just let them ferret them to nets?

I shoot once a month on a range that is right on the seafront I’ve shot in all weather conditions, don’t have a choice on the weather as the ranges are booked well in advance I know it’s a different kettle of fish shooting at targets but I have learnt quite a lot and still learning, what I have learnt has helped me in the field tremendously And made me a lot more confident been able to practice is the key,

surely the wind can’t be 25 mile an hour all the time?

And that, I find, is the biggest problem with rifle shooting quarry in a wind. Whatever the wind is doing, it never blows at the same strength or from the same direction for more than a few seconds. Sailing dinghies proved that to me.

it’s not 25 all the time but when it’s gusting and your shooting of quad sticks you can keep stead one minute your spot on the next minute you’re moving all over the place it’s no good saying you will be only a few mill out it’s not fair on the bunny to wound it I like so mean on here like a clean kill shooting Papper doesn’t matter it’s not going to roll round on the floor till you can dispatch it

I do understand it’s not easy and I’m not suggesting you should shoot rabbits in a 25 mile an hour wind, you could put targets up in different wind’s and different positions and perhaps wait for the wind to die down before a shot is taken. I shoot off of Quad stick’s tripod off the back of A vehicle and out of the driver-side passenger-side windows and faced the same trouble as you, maybe not quite the same as you living in North Wales A beautiful part of the country by the way been there many times
