Migration to the UK has in fact fallen considerably ........ but not that by channel crossings in illegal boats, where it has increased.  It HAS to be stopped by preventing people boarding and setting off in boats.  You cannot 'turn back' unsafe boats.

like the gov tells the truth if you have the minerals you can do whatever you please these people are trying to enter the country illegally if criminals refuse to listen you make them do so if it takes razor wire or firearms you deploy them

They are not criminals until convicted - and you cannot just 'deploy firearms' against people claiming refugee status.  Do you really want all our beaches covered in razor wire - and firearms teams out shooting at refugees?

This HAS to be tackled at source - that is at the French end.

The only real solution, is for any illegal immigrant to be returned to the last country they came from.
Not "processed" for months/years, but the very next day  after landing.

I don't  see preventing them leaving France ever being viable.
How can the French legally prevent them launching a boat from the shore ?
The English authorities couldn't prevent me launching a boat from the English shore, nor would they have the right to ask where I am going.
The only people who could prevent me landing in France, is the French.

Sending them straight back is the only solution and that requires some negotiation.

  1. if the police have "reasonable suspition that you may be about to commit a crime",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  2. the french dont do negociating

the crime in question would be entering a country illigally

The only way they will stop coming to the UK is if they are stopped from entering France in the first place. Once there the French have absolutely no interest nor anything to gain from preventing them from passing through to get to the UK.
It’s a lot further in a dinghy from Belgium or the Netherlands.
Nothing will be done regarding this latest tragedy. If seeing a dead toddler bobbing up and down face down in the surf doesn’t cause a resolve then nothing will, and there’s been a truckload of dead Asians since then. An empty dinghy surrounded by corpses isn’t going to cut it; much easier to just arrest a few traffickers and prosecute them. That way the politicians can placate the general public by claiming ‘something has been done’, until the next time of course.
If people REALLY cared then our respective parliaments would be surrounded by outraged citizens, but instead the French will blockade UK vehicles over fishing rights and the English will block their own roads to protest about insulation. Me? I’m off to the pub. 🙂

Sadly, for me now I have started to consider why our so called government continue to allow this influx to continue unchallenged? Apart from a few squeaks to pacify some supporters?

I don't like the thought that is starting to form being currently unable to find a more rational reason.

I really can't understand what's so complicated about this. The French aren't going to help us to keep migrants they don't want over there. The only viable solution is like I said earlier, dump them straight back and the problem would stop within a week (via that route anyway).

The french are hardly going to go to war with us over it as we are simply returning migrants from where they came, there'd be a bit of tutting from the international community and that'd be it and let's be honest, our relationship with France and the EU couldn't get any worse anyway, so what's to loose?

Not only would it stop the local problem of people drowning in the channel,  word would quickly get back to source and stop the flow into France too.

UK and France have very different ideas on how to prevent tragedies in the channel,  UK wants to return migrants to France,  France wants us to let them use the tunnel.

Exactly and I say who cares what the French think, if they won't act in a morel way, take the choice away from them, dump them straight back.

I'd like to see a cruise liner anchored at the edge of our border, all those requiring escort or assistance get taken there for processing - failed 'refugees' will soon get fed up and ask to go back if they have no documents.

For those members who don't know, a ship at anchor is much less pleasant than if it were making way.

You cant kick someone in the nuts and expect them to still be your friend and agree to abide by the rules you had before you kicked them in the nuts as for a ship landing on a beach and leaving them there what nonsense

Can't you, the EU including France has been kicking us in the nuts and urinating down our backs, while trying to convince us its just raining for years and yet we the UK still hold our hand out in friendship.

Care to explain why it wouldn't work?

The blood is firmly on the hands of our utterly spineless politicos for allowing this to continue?

A law change should be made if needed?

There is no way we could rock up on the French coast and dump people with no papers? We would maybe need to borrow a boat and fuel for starters?

I'm thinking now that it's a good job the old stalwarts who made this country what it is, are long gone seeing the shameful state we have been made to become?

We absolutely could rock up on a French beach and dump them off, all it would take is the will to do it.

Not being confrontational, how so?

Do we send a call to their Maritime Gendarmerie,....... Oi ,we're just returning some people we don't want .

We rock up to tip em out facing 5 100 ton patrol boats and 50 Maritime officers all armed to the teeth? Ours possibly only have a flare gun but no flares?

I don't think so as our lot  are still in the HOP bar hoping for home time to arrive quickly? This they deem a huge success?

On a radio 4 news report a home office minister stated that 5 people had been deported this yeafafter entering illegaly not bad out of 25k.they also gave the percentage figures of where all these boat people came from.mainly syria and iran so why not put them on planes and take thdm straight back.i believe word would soon get around and they would think twice before getting into a dingy after handing over their cash only to be sent straight back home.might just take the shine off the uk for them.
