This is utter madness, all over the news about housing shortages and house prices being inflated due to demand, this year alone we've had over 20k land here without a single deportation, they're all housed somewhere, just where will it end.

With politics moving further and further right, until we get a party that will deal with it???

456 migrants landed yesterday....(2nd nov)

in excess of 800 today (3rd nov)

companies in Turkey are reported to be making a new generation of inflatables that will carry 200 persons

severe shortage of 40hp outboards as supplied by south africa....so now they are starting to use 30hp outboards

i know it sounds a bit too simple but why cant these manufacturers and suppliers be stamped on eh ?

The really big inflatables that carry up to 200 are expected next year. Currently used on the Med/Adriatic.

They'll likely need three or four French patrol boats to escort them half way across - and similar UK coastguard boats.

Just wondering if la grenouille are funding this boat enterprise behind closed doors? Turkey hoping that their covert co-operation will speed their access to the EU proper?

Stranger things have happened at sea as the saying goes?

The numbers now crossin g are the biggest ever and its poorer weather. Wait till the calm summer days thousands a day will be over. You,will be lucky to find an hotel vacancy , they will be rammed full with migrants.

The country has to spend its surplus cash somewhere... hotel owners have brown envelopes...

If you tried to enter America without the proper paperwork (and now presumably covid certification as well)  It would be go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect £200.  And out again the next day

Any possibility of sorting out your paperwork later (including claiming asylum) would be hugely difficult to the point that you could say its impossible.

Same as Israel, people bring their paperwork because they know that without it there is no chance of ever getting in

set the bar high and see who  clears it

In cities like Sheffield the local left wing politicians are so proud of their 'city of sanctuary ' and invite the rest of the planet to come to live there. But then they are the first to bleat on about homelessness ,lack of affordable housing and insufficient public services.

Its ridiculous isn't it. Its like they think they live on an episode of startrek where you can always do the nice thing. I'd like to live in a world where you can help everyone and there was an endless amount of resources and money for everyone, but as we know, unfortunately life doesn't work like that. Some of these people need to wake up and understand that the decisions they make, like not immediately deporting these economic migrants has damaging consequences for others like those you've mentioned. It even has damaging consequences for other migrants as it attracts others to attempt the same and I believe 3 people at lest died last week in an attempted crossing. It really needs getting a grip of.

If we didn't give them all the handouts, would they want to come here?

Yes. As here we speak English. The second language taught in most non-English foreign countries. The handouts are less relevant to that fact. And I'd say that for that reason most economic migrants to Europe from French speaking West Africa don't come here to the UK but make their final destination the three Francophone countries on the continent.

So do most European countries. The point is though, whether they want to comehere or not, they shouldn't be aloud to, unless there is a genuine legal reason. At the moment anyone can jump in a dingy and they'll get to stay.

OH and me regularly watch the ‘Saving Lives at Sea’ programme, and just the other week it showed a lifeboat rescuing migrants from an inflatable.
Now I’m not for one second criticising the lifeboat crew as they are just doing their job, but a crew member echoed something my OH did when they mentioned how desperate must someone be to escape persecution, to risk the lives of their children trying to get to the UK?
I’m of the opinion that if they were so desperate to escape persecution in their own country, what is it that is so terrible about Spain, Italy, France or any other democratic countries they have passed through, which makes them think….’I know what we’ll do, we’ll give some dodgy blokes in France all our money to set us and the kids adrift in an overladen dinghy in one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.’ 🤔

Cynic? Me?
The atmosphere in the house was a tad icy that night! 🙂

this is sooner or later going to bring the govt down.....it will also see extreme far right parties get elected into parliament....so this problem really needs to be sorted soon.......by someone who has got the balls to do it.....it will be painful......but not as painful if it is just shovelled into a corner and left
