As per title. Looking for advice about these dogs. We have had problems with these dogs off lead charging and running up to other dogs. I've never heard about these dogs until recently, are they legal? It's just a matter of time before they attack another dog. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

It's getting to the point where some dog owners will not walk their dogs in these areas for fear of their dog being attacked. It's a real shame for those owners who are older and more vulnerable.

My mate has got a pocket bully no trouble at all. A young lad near me

has got an xl bully and is one of the fiercest looking things i have ever seen.

That also is very well behaved. As said it all depends who owns them and how you bring them up.

Seeing a lot of them about and all the ones seen have cropped ears, obviously done illegally.

Looking at them they don’t look fit for any sort of function.

Just another sad fashion statement.

The legality of them is a grey area, if it's truly been crossed with a American pit bull terrier then yes it'd be illegal. Alot of people cross them with Staffordshire bulls or other cross breeds which give them an APT look in which case they'd possibly be legal, each dog however would be assessed by an expert on their individual characteristics to decide if it was in fact illegal.

Even if it was deemed a banned breed, the dog would be assessed and if deemed safe, the owner would have to register it, have it neutered or spayed, gain specialist insurance and have it muzzled in a public place.

Breed specific legislation really is a waste of time, it's the idiots who own dangerous dogs that need controlling.
