A lot of the marshes in our area are having scrapes cut out and sluice gates fitted in the dykes to govern the height of the water that flood the marshes in the Winter time , this encourage wildfowl and geese in much larger numbers , I see the big flocks of Pinks leave the reserve most mornings and more and more are heading in a Southerly direction into Suffolk and no doubt finding freshly lifted beet fields , sugar beet is grown in most counties so there is nothing to say they will spread far and wide .
